Maxine E. King, 88, of Quincy, IL, passed away at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Maxine was born April 4, 1933, in Quincy, IL to Gale and Laura (Henze) Yocum. She was married to Roger W. King on June 26, 1955 at the Salem Evangelical Church of Christ in Quincy, IL. He survives.
Other survivors include one son, Dale A. (Sherri) King on Mendon, IL; one daughter, Linda D. King of Quincy, IL; five grandchildren, Lucas (Cassie) King, Dr. Adam (Linda) King, Isaac (Becky) Speckhart, Cpt. Benjamin (Sarah) Speckhart, and Anna (Seth) Martin; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, two infant siblings, and one grandson.
Maxine was as a home economics teacher for the Unit District #4 in Mendon, IL for twenty-one years.
An avid traveler, Maxine and Roger traveled extensively all across the country in their own private plane, and later on in life, their own RV. They often tagged along with Foretravel Motorcade Club and the Lincolnland Coachman Travel Club. Though they traveled all around the country, Maxine's favorite destinations were Alaska, and Mesa, AZ where she and Roger spent the winter for eighteen years. Flying from St. Petersburg to Moscow, a cruise in the Baltic Sea, and visiting Australia were Maxine's favorite out-of-country excursions. When she wasn't traveling, Maxine could be found at home quilting, cooking, or spending time working on genealogy for her family. She was also an avid gardener and she enjoyed tending to her three massive gardens. She grew pecan trees, apple trees, and several other types of fruits and veggies. One year she had a yield of ninety pints of blackberries. Maxine was also a part of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She would volunteer at Blessing Hospital, using her time to crochet baby blankets and caps for newborns. Above all, Maxine loved her family, especially the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Maxine will be remembered for her adventurous spirit and kind, selfless nature.
Pallbearers will be Lucas King, Adam King, Isaac Speckhart, Ben Speckhart, Seth Martin, and Cameron Martin.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, Great River Honor Flight, or Madison Park Christian Church.
