Michael McNulty, a 15-year-old from Chanhassen, died when the jet ski he was riding was involved in a collision with another jet ski on Lake Minnetonka. He suffered multiple blunt force injuries.

Michael McNulty passed away on June 30, 2021. Michael is our light. He pushed all of us to be more empathetic and compassionate towards everyone. He truly believed in a better world, and in his short time, made it so. Michael was a connector, a friend to so many and loved to be involved in everything. He participated in theatre. Took pride in his academics, especially challenging himself with his Chinese and other AP classmates. Competed with his Soccer, Football and Baseball teammates. Loved all water sports on the lake. And found his greatest joy on the hill with his G-team friends at Hyland Hills. But most of all he was the equal and beautiful opposite of his amazing twin brother Colin. He was, and will always be, a part of all of us.

The best thing you can do to honor Michael is to be kind to each other, be curious and adventurous in making new friends, and live your life to the fullest. And think about the amazing gift of Michael, who lit up every room he ever entered.

The celebration of life for Michael will be on Tuesday, July 13 at 11 a.m. at Westwood Community Church in Chanhassen/Excelsior.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family would prefer support to go to the Michael McNulty Memorial Fund. In the same way that Michael led with kindness and empathy, the fund exists to help those who deserve it most. It will provide scholarships to support our local academic and athletic community. Donations may be made to the Michael McNulty Memorial Fund via check or Venmo @michaelmcnultymemorial.
