James, of Deweyville, passed away Thursday at his daughter's residence in Houston.
Born in Mississippi to Moses Dewitt and Laura Victoria (Ham) Jones, he had previously resided in Lake Arthur, Louisiana, moved to Orange in 1964, to Deweyville in 1976, worked as a laborer in the oilfield industry, participated in many rodeos throughout his life and was of the Baptist faith.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Bertha Theriot; his wife of sixty seven years, Johanna Kristine Larsen Jones; his brother, Charles Jones and his sisters, Myrtle Coward and Eva Pullins.
He is survived by his daughter, Beatrice Jones; daughter, Barbara Price and husband, James; son, John Jones and wife Linda; brother, Jesse Jones; sister, Judy Sutton and very special friends, Gary and Liz, Allie, John and Gina and Valentino and Max.
