Leading Aircraftman Lawn, home for a short leave, tragically lost his life in a motor vehicle accident near Pembroke. A fellow airman, Leading Aircraftman John Patrick CARMODY, also home on leave, perished in this accident, too.

Earlier, in Jan 1942, LAC Lawn had been seriously injured in a Tiger Moth training aircraft accident in Manitoba.

Son of Michael Timothy and Mary Ann (née Sloan) Lawn of Christie Street in Pembroke [father born in Campbell Bay, Quebec; mother born in Vinton, Quebec].


Leading Aircraftman John Andrew Lawn is commemorated on Page 89 of Canada's Second World War Book of Remembrance.

He is also commemorated by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
