Anne Garrard Whorton, 93, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, after a brief illness.
Anne was a retired teacher and was a member of Devereaux United Methodist Church. She worked for Glynco Naval Air Base in Brunswick, GA, and retired after 32 years as a mathematics teacher from McIntosh County Academy in Darien, GA. She also taught school in Brunswick, GA, and Brownsville, TX.
She was the daughter of Marvin Wesley Garrard, Sr., Sara Elizabeth Bonner Garrard and Mary Franklin Tye Garrard, all of Devereux.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Madison C. Whorton, and her granddaughter, Melissa B. Friedman.
She is survived by daughters, Connie W. Bentz (Jesse), Elizabeth W. Lupo (Louie), Eve W. Williams (Don), and son, Russell Whorton (Janice); grandchildren, Amanda B. Tant, Teresa M. Campbell (Matt), Joshua McWaters, Rebecca M. Kamerschen (Robbie), Will Whorton and Caroline W. Udelhofen (Josh); 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Jacquelyn G. Archer; brother, M.W. Garrard, Jr. (Pat); sister-in-law, Ann W. Hughes (Stuart); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are William Whorton, Joshua McWaters, Lucas Tant, Matt Campbell, Jachin Campbell, Bebhin Campbell, Braxton Campbell and Marek Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Devereaux United Methodist Church, with interment to follow at Reynolds Chapel Cemetery.
