Jim entered peaceful rest on Veterans Day, November 11th, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Baker and Alberta Barber, (Vaughn), his sister Sharon (Clifford) VanSon, and two brothers who died in infancy. He is survived by his children Daniel, Katelin, and Nicholas. As well as his favorite sister, Lori (Steven) Ford, his brother, Timothy Baker, and his widow Bobbi Anne. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Jim was a US Army Veteran, serving both active and reserve for over 20 years. He joined the Army right after high school and served as Postmaster General in Germany for many of his active-duty years. Jim was also a retired New York State Corrections Officer, he served as a corrections officer at Attica State Prison and Gowanda Correctional Institution. He also spent many years as a Confederate Civil War reenactor and was a proud life member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Group. He was a member of The Crystal Springs Southern Rights Camp No 712 SCV, where he served as a past Camp Commander and multiple times as the Camp Adjutant. Jim enjoyed participating in living histories, he was true historian regarding anything Civil War related. He also enjoyed war related air crafts and spent a lot of time in his workshop building airplane models, paying special attention to the details.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the American Heart Association, Harrisville Baptist Church Food Pantry, or the Crystal Springs Southern Rights Camp.

Services will be in the care of Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. A Graveside Service will be Monday, November 22, 2021 at Mississippi State Veteran's Cemetery in Newton, MS at 2:00 p.m.Name: BAKER, MAURICE J
