Wendell Carl Murray, 70, of Memphis, TN died on October 11, 2021.

Wendell was born on January 19, 1951, in Little Rock, AR to Carl and Louise Julius Murray. He received his undergraduate and Masters of Fine Arts degrees from the University of Arkansas.

Wendell was a writer and a musician and had many other interests from genealogy to traveling in Italy and France where he had many relatives and fond memories. In 1984 he was awarded a $10K grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission for his writing and was published in an anthology: "Homewords: A Book of Tennessee Writers. Additionally, he was the first winner of the "Memphis Magazine" Fiction Contest.

Wendell worked for Kele, Inc. for 20 years creating software for the business and valued his work family and friends.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Louise Murray, and his sister, Velma Murray.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Cash; nieces Angela Swann and Lenora Swann, his nephew. Victor Swann, and several great-nieces and -nephews.

Visitation will be held at Canale Funeral Home on Sunday, October 24, 2021, from 2:00 to 4:00. We look forward to sharing stories and memories of Wendell with his many friends.
