NILES--Howard N. Fairbanks, 68, of 433 Brush Road, died at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mr. Fairbanks was born April 13, 1917, in South Bend. On Sept. 6, 1941, in South Bend, he married the former Mildred Wyland, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Gloria Grabner of Mishawaka; a son, Ronald of South Bend; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Blanche Andreck of South Bend and Mary Gilmore of Anderson, Ind.
Mr. Fairbanks retired form Bendix Corp. after 29 years of service. He was a 40-year member of the American Turners, the Moose Lodge of Elkhart, and the American Legion of Niles. HE was an Army veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 1201 S. Michigan St., South Bend. Entombment will be in Riverview Mausoleum, South Bend. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
