On January 25, 1964, he married his wife DeLynn (Bailey), and they had two children, Justin and Andrea. Gary served his country honorably as a draftee to Vietnam, and after using the GI Bill to obtain a bachelor's degree in electronics engineering from CSU Fresno, became a civil servant at China Lake in 1971. After working with the Weapons/Targets Department doing projects such as DAMASK and FOLPEN he retired in 2003.
Gary was a faithful member of the IWV Church of Christ, and loved nothing more than hiking our nearby mountain peaks with his Christian brothers. He also enjoyed tinkering with electronics and spent many hours reading and studying the Bible.
Gary is survived by his wife of 57 years, DeLynn, his son Justin (Elena) Ennis, his daughter Andrea (Mike) Soto, and his grandchildren from Justin: Adeline (Nick) Windsor and Laurel (Bobby) Price, and from Andrea: Micaiah (Shilo), Isaac, Corwin, Elora, Kerys, and Peregrin Soto. He is also survived by his brothers Stephen (Joy) Ennis of Salt Lake City, UT and Mike (Diane) Ennis of Porterville, CA, and was predeceased by his parents and sister Barbara Ennis Concannon.
A graveside service will be held at Desert Memorial Park in Ridgecrest on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 10 am. The family asks that attendees please wear a mask and observe other COVID protocols. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to The Sudan Project (www.sudanproject.net).
