Eileen Edith Keefe, widow of veteran Washington State Sen. James E. Keefe, died Thursday at Sacred Heart Medical Center.

She was 73.

Rosary will be recited at 7:30 Friday night at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, E402 Boone. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Born in Hazelhurst, Wis., the former Eileen Anderson came to Spokane in 1928. She married Mr. Keefe here.

Her husband, who served 30 years as Democratic state senator for the 3rd legislative district, was senior member of the State Senate and vice president pro tem at the time of his death, June 14, 1979.

In March 1979, the Senate voted to name the Hamilton Street Bridge, now under construction, in his honor. Mr. Keefe had suffered from cancer more than a decade.

Mrs. Keefe is survived by two sons, Patrick Joseph Keefe of Olympia and Dan William Keefe of Spokane; two sisters, Joyce E. Schaab of Bellevue, Wash., and Maxine Church of Spokane; and six grandchildren.
