He was the loving husband of the late Janet Ida Wahrlich Van Wagner. Bill was the son of the late William Joseph Van Wagner Sr. and Julia Di-Christofaro Van Wagner. Bill was also predeceased by his younger brother Robert John Van Wagner.
A lifelong Ridgefielder, Bill attended Ridgefield schools through graduation. He played football for the Tigers with a passion.
Bill was the estate manager for Ablons for 68 years. He had a strong devotion to his work and a genuine care for the family he worked for.
Bill loved his guitar and even though he didn't share his talent with many people, he was an amazing artist. He also loved woodworking, making many beautiful pieces of furniture for his family and friends.
Bill's love for fishing and hunting kept him close to many of his Ridgefield compadres. They even had a club called Northern Invitational and they shared many wonderful times together.
He enjoyed his motorcycle days from giving us rides as children to touring New England with Janet after the kids were grown.
Bill is survived by his two daughters, Lori Showers and husband Joe, and Lynn Van Wagner, his brother Paul Van Wagner, his brother Bob's wife May, her son Billy and granddaughter, Rebecca. four grandchildren, Michael K. Tyler, Jessica L. Tyler, Jacob M. Tyler and William I. Tyler.
In early spring 2022 interment for Bill and Janet will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield.
