Steven Roger Phillips, age 60, passed on to eternal life on November 11, 2021, at Majestic Care in Fort Wayne following an extended illnesses. He was born July 14, 1961, in Newport News, VA, to E. Robert and Mary (Donlin) Phillips.

Steve was a 1979 graduate of Elwood Community High School and attended both Ball State University and ITT Technical Institute. He was previously employed at Schwitzer, Sam's Wonder Bar, Elsa, and Red Gold. He loved sports, especially football, where he was an award-winning defensive tackle for Elwood High School. His love for the game led him to coaching little league football in Elwood for several years. He was also active in bowling leagues in Elwood and Anderson.

Steve is survived by seven siblings, Cindy (Bill) Whited of Downers Grove, IL, Bob (Diane) Phillips of Carmel, IN, Wayne (Brigitte) Phillips of Camby, IN, Joan (Doug) Dice of Sevierville, TN, Marcie (Jay) Frazee of Jacksonville, FL, Patrick (Jerri) Phillips of Elwood and Pete (Marti) Phillips of Columbus, OH. He also leaves behind several loving nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Saundra Frazee.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Brian Christopher Phillips, and great-nephew, Malaki Ryan Rittenhouse.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Dunnichay Funeral Funeral Home, Elwood chapel. A memorial service celebrating Steve's life will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 AM with Father Dennis Goth officiating. Steve will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
