Army Specialist Michael Deon Mitchell, Jr., age 24, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021, in Watertown, New York.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra with Rev. Larry Lawrence, preacher of St. John Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, officiating. Interment with follow in Dick Sparks Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Deon was born December 11, 1996 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Michael Deon Mitchell and Lori Ann Allen.
Deon was a 2015 graduate of Hirschi High School where he played football for four years and was the State Champion Power Lifter. After graduation, he attended Midwestern State University and played semi-pro football.
Deon was a Correction Officer for Wichita County before joining the Army. He proudly served his country in Afghanistan and received the Army Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and National Defense Service Medal. Deon was a SPC and a 94 Fox.
Deon enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his parents, Michael and Anna Mitchell, Lacey Sheppard, Lori Allen and Tiffanye Denton; five brothers, Marquis Mitchell, Donovan Mitchell, Dauntae Mitchell, Jaxxon Mitchell and Declan Allen; six sisters, Nia Lawrence, Chanel Franklin, AmBriah Mitchell, Zy'ah Mitchell, Mikkayla Franklin, and Z'Kajah Mitchell; grandparents, Arthur and Earlene Brigham, Ike and May Green; great-grandparents, Ladonna Allen and Rod Frazier; aunts and uncles, Isaac and Zoey Mitchell, Tavorsheia Mitchell, Michael Allen, and Josh Blakely; and a host of great-aunts and uncles and cousins.
Deon was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Wincy Lo Franklin and cousins, John Mitchell, Jr., Anthony Mitchell and Renea Reed.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ike Green, Michael Mitchell Sr., Marquis Mitchell, Donovan Mitchell, Dauntae Mitchell and Jaxxon Mitchell.Army Specialist
