Reverend Father Dennis Eugene Stevenson died on November 13, 2021 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. He was born to Robert and Edith (nee Leohner) Stevenson on February 12, 1954, and baptized on April 18, 1954 at Calvary Lutheran Church (Lancaster). In 1977, Father Stevenson earned his B.A. in History and Education at Capital University (Bexley); he then taught for several years in public schools. Father Stevenson was drawn to the Catholic faith and became a fully-initiated member of the Roman Catholic Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) on April 18, 1981, at Christ the King Church (Columbus). Called by Jesus Christ to serve Him, His Church and His people as a Catholic priest, Father Stevenson completed his seminary formation at Mount Saint Mary's of the West Seminary (Cincinnati) in 1988, and was ordained a Roman Catholic priest at Saint Joseph Cathedral (Columbus) on June 11, 1988 by Bishop James A. Griffin. He later earned his Licentiate in Canon Law (JCL) from the Catholic University of America (Washington, D.C.) in 1993. A respected canonist, Father Stevenson served in many capacities in the Diocesan Tribunal since 1989 – Assessor, Defender of the Bond, Promoter of Justice, Diocesan Judge, Adjutant Judicial Vicar – who also devotedly and faithfully balanced these responsibilities with pastoral ministry in the parishes where he was assigned or resided, including: Saint Michael Parish (Worthington), Saint Andrew Parish (Upper Arlington), Saint Aloysius Parish (Columbus), and Christ the King Parish (Columbus). Father Stevenson was a loving brother and uncle. He is survived by his brothers Mark (Renita) and Robert (Lora) Stevenson; nieces and nephew: Krista (Josh) Martyn, Jennifer (Zack) Tatum, Kari Stevenson, Robert (Megan) Stevenson, Andrea (Will) Schneck, and Kayla Stevenson.
