Born December 2, 1938, in Accident, he was the son of the late John & Amelia (Kahl) Bowman. Jim was preceded in death by one brother, John Bowman, Jr. and one sister Joan Oester.
Jim was a dairy farmer, milk hauler, had worked at Texas Eastern, and earlier was a surveyor for the State of Maryland. He was a member of the Garrett County Farm Bureau and Zion Lutheran Church, LCMS.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Marie (Fike) Bowman; one son, Kenneth (Robin) Bowman and Anna Marie Bowman, all of Accident; two grandchildren, Tracy (Jason) Knotts, Tyler (Rebekah) Bowman; three great-grandchildren, Carmen, Colt and Andrew.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller Street, Grantsville, MD, on Thursday, November 18, 2021, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Services will be conducted in the Zion Lutheran Church, Friday, November 19, 2021, at 11:00 am, with the Rev. James Oester and the Rev. Benjamin Hertel officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.
