Gloria Jean Johnson was born October 14, 1960 and departed this life Wednesday, November 10, 2021 reaching the age of 61 years. She was the daughter of the late Sam and Ora (Shelton) Rains.
She is survived by: her husband, Stephen Johnson; two daughters, Rebecca (Bruce) Thompson and Paula (Phillip) Johnson; three sons, James (Tara) Starnes, Clifford Ray Kennedy, Charlie Mitchell (Megan) Kennedy, and Roy Kennedy; one daughter-in-law, Wanda Kennedy; twenty-three grandchildren, Amber and Quentin Fulton, Courtney Barnes, Hunter Thompson, Colby Bentley, Daniel, Jacob, Gloria, Becca, and Nathalene Kennedy, Cindy Barnes, Trinity, Charlie N, Stephanie Kennedy, Serena Guffey, Katrina and Kimmy Troxell, Ethan Campbell, Bruce Christopher Thompson, John and Drake Starnes, Amber and Timmy Thompson; and three great grandchildren, Faith and Stephen Thompson and Kyler James Stephens.
She is also survived by: four brothers, Johnny, Frankie, Eddie and Floyd Rains; and four sisters, Marie Stinson, Rebecca Amonett, Ethel Gilbert and Angela Cole; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: grandchild, Cheyanne Kennedy; three brothers, Robert Dale, Willie, and Clyde Wilbur Rains; and two sisters, Rosie Piercy and Louise Perdue.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 19, 2021 between 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 19, 2021 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Davis Chapel Cemetery.
