Joseph Benjamin McNeal (66) passed away at home in Boise, ID on 11-11-2021 (Veterans Day). He will be greatly missed. Joseph and his family appreciate all the great medical care he received over the many years through the Boise Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Born 9-11-1955 in Henderson, North Carolina. Married Sharon (Bigelow) McNeal 10-12-1991 (30 years ago).
Survived by his loving wife Sharon (Bigelow) McNeal; son Joseph B. McNeal V; daughter Zoë McNeal of Boise, ID; parents Joe B. McNeal and Mildred Frances (Howard) McNeal of Mtn. Home ID; sisters Patricia Ann Howard of Henderson, NC, Deborah Baker Hampton (Toney Hampton) of Tacoma, WA, Sharon Denise Dixon (Alfred Dixon) of San Antonio, TX, Stephanie L. Moore (Philander Moore) of Austin, TX; aunt Cleo (McNeal) Robinson of Miami, FL; honorary brother Richard McNeal of Oakland, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers and grandmothers from Schenectady, NY and Henderson, NC; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His father served in the Air Force. For that reason, Joseph, his sisters, and mother lived throughout the U.S., Guam, and the Philippines. Joseph also proudly served in the Air Force (Senior Airman) as a Medical Laboratory Specialist from 1975-1981. He attended Bible school for a year to study applying God's Word in business. Joseph received bachelor's degrees from City University in chemistry and environmental health. He was an entrepreneur beginning with running newspaper delivery and car wash businesses as a boy to multiple businesses throughout the rest of his life.

Joseph loved spending time with his family, cooking, and traveling. Once Joseph and the family were on the road, the trips were often extended to other locations on the spur of the moment. One summer turned into travels from coast to coast visiting family throughout the U.S.

A Memorial Service will be held at Bowman Funeral Parlor, 10254 W. Carlton Bay Drive, Garden City, ID 83714 on Thursday, November 18th at 2 pm. A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd., Boise, ID 83714.
