Cleota Irene Arnett, 81, Pomona, died Friday, December 14, 2007 at her daughter's home.

She was born April 27, 1926 in Plainville, Kansas to Oliver L. 'Vernon' and Edith F. (Paris) Bair. She graduated from Plainville High School in 1944.

On March 18, 1944 she married Philip Marlin Arnett in Plainville. During Phil's many years of teaching/coaching, they lived in various communities in Kansas, moving to Pomona in 1965, where he was the first Superintendent of USD #287. He preceded her in death in August 1990.

Cleota was a member of the First Christian Church in Plainville. She worked for Mode O'Day of Ottawa for thirteen years, until the plant closed. She spent hours working with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and enjoyed many hours of oil painting and crafts. Her greatest love in life, besides her family, was playing cards, fishing, and more playing cards. She truly enjoyed her card playing buddies and friends. She was a member of the Share & Care Club and Craft Club of Pomona and volunteered at Ransom Memorial Hospital for several years.

Survivors include a son, Paul Arnett and his wife, Mary, of Pomona, one daughter, Linda Robbins and her husband, Leonard, of Pomona; a daughter-in-law, Betty Arnett, Memphis, Tennessee; grandchildren, Katina and her husband, Keith Larsen of Pomona, April and her husband, Donald Smith, of Louisburg, Rebecca and her husband, John McCue of Kansas City, Kansas, Brian Robbins and his wife, Rachel, of Round Rock, Texas, Eric Robbins and his wife, Carla, of Inola, Oklahoma, and Matt Arnett, Caroline Arnett Parker and Jennifer Arnett England, all of Memphis, Tennessee. Her great grandchildren are Brandon Larsen, Mira McCue, Caleb Robbins, Chase Robbins, Dylan Courtwright, Braeydon, Ryle and Tyler Grimes and Jacklyn Kallol.

Besides her husband, Cleota was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and a son, Kenneth Arnett in 1977.

SERVICES: Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Dengel & Son Mortuary.

IN STATE:Mrs. Arnett will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. Monday to service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 Tuesday evening.

CEMETERY: Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas.
