Nancy E. Harris, 83, of Marion, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Marion on February 3, 1938, to Joseph and Lillie (DeCoursey) Thomas. On June 28, 1958, she married Jim Harris, and he survives.

Nancy graduated from Marion High School in 1956 and was a member of First Friends Church. She enjoyed camping and hiking and was the best at fishing in the family. She didn't hunt animals, but she did enjoy hunting mushrooms. She planned vacations for her family every year. Nancy was great at cooking meals for her family, often cooking game or fish brought home by Jim and her sons. She made breakfast and lunches for her husband and sons every day, and she made the best apple pies ever! Nancy was a scout leader and won awards in leadership. She also won the Top Women's Trapshooter at Deer Creek Conservation Club in 1965. Her loyal dachshund, Blue, was always by her side.

Survivors include her loving husband, Jim Harris of Marion; sons, Jim (Dawn) Harris of Jonesboro, Dirk (Susan) Harris of Kokomo, and Bill (Natalie) Harris of Marion; grandchildren, Randi (Jenny) Harris, Madison (Tyler) Schache, Wesley (Brittany) Harris, Matt (Ashley) Harris, Kyle (Kallie) Harris, and Bill Harris, Jr.; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Jo Ellen LaFevre; several nieces, nephews, and friends; and her beloved dog, Blue.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Helen M. Sinclair and Doris Duckwall.

A memorial service to celebrate Nancy's life was held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN., with Pastor Dwight Elliott officiating.
