Mr. Willie Linwood Anderson, Jr., 86, of 312 Saint Andrew Street, Petersburg, Virginia, departed this life on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at the Southside Regional Medical Center. He was born September 4, 1935, in Norfolk, Virginia. He received his early education there in Norfolk and was a graduate of the Booker T. Washington High School. On April 2, 1958, he enlisted into the United States Army. He was a graduate of the Virginia State College, US Army Ordinance School, Quartermaster School, and served as an I G inspection. After 26 years of faithful service to the United States Army, on April 30, 1984, he retired as an E9/ Sergeant Major.
Willie enjoyed model cars, airplanes, bowling, arts, and craft.
On February 14, 2007, he was united in holy matrimony to Janice Harrison.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Anderson, Sr., Sarah Elizabeth Mackey, and stepmother, Alice Anderson, one stepson, Joseph Christopher Harrison, and a nephew, Orlando Wilkins, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Harrison Anderson, two daughters, Adonicia Anderson, and Christina Anderson; one son, Willie Anderson III; one sister, Mary Frances Wilkins Slade (Mario), a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, Deborah Combo, Regina Wilkins, Allen Wilkins, Angela Granderson, Kim Miller, a number of great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to give special thanks to Kionna Myles (Dalonte), and Jeanette Woods for your support during these times.
Public viewing will be held on Monday evening October 18, 2021, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, and the family will receive friends during that time.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 9 a.m. at the Albert G. Horton Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, Virginia. The family will assemble at 7:30 a.m. at the funeral home on the morning of the service for the procession.
