Carolyn Allen Morris
January 1, 1934 - November 3, 2021

Charlotte, North Carolina - Carolyn Allen Morris passed away on November 3, 2021, at the age of 87, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born to the late Earl and Etta Crocker on January 1, 1934. She was brought up in the Steele Creek area of Mecklenburg County and was raised in Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Carolyn began attending St. John's Episcopal Church in 1964. The practice of her faith and her involvement in the church stemmed from God, her Guiding Light. She was one of the network of hospital callers for the church in the 1970's. Her varied experience working in the medical field showed her keen understanding of patients' feelings and putting them at ease. Carolyn also served in the church and at Matthews Glen Retirement Community as a Lay Eucharistic Minister, assisting with Holy Communion.

One of Carolyn's most proud accomplishments was completing the 4-year study of Education for Ministry (EfM), a program that originated at the University of the South School of Theology. She continued for several years to mentor others during their journey in the program. She was instrumental in leading others to taking this course.
Carolyn's love of music included playing the piano and singing in the church choir. She served a term as president of Queens College Friends of Music and also had been a member of the Oratorio Guild of Charlotte, serving as the Guild's Soeial Chairman for a time.
In the 1980's, Carolyn served on the Hospitality House Board of Directors. She helped campaign for donations to this non-profit organization and also worked at Hospitality House regularly welcoming the hospitalized family members in for a place to live temporarily.

Carolyn loved her travels to Europe, especially to France and Switzerland. A highlight of her life was a trip with Tom to the Holy Land.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Tom Morris of Matthews, NC; brother, Earl Reid Crocker of Conyers, GA; and her children, Kathi Shout (Josh) of Gastonia, NC; Julie Priest of Fayetteville, AR; Robin Allen of Charlotte, NC; Karen Merchant (Eden) of Aiken, SC; Brian Allen of Cornelius, NC; Doug Allen of Little River, SC; Cathey Branham (Kelly) of Concord, NC; John Morris (Rana) of Easley, SC; and Michael Morris of Lutz, FL. She cherished being 'Mimi' to each of her 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Carolyn valued faith and family above all things and will be dearly missed by all. The family would like to thank the medical community at Novant Matthews Hospital, the caregivers at Matthews Glen's Willow Brook Court and especially Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte for their loving care.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church or Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 7845 Little Avenue, Charlotte, NC, 28226.

The funeral service celebrating Carolyn Morris' life will be at 2 PM on Tuesday, November 23 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1623 Carmel Road, Charlotte, NC. Family only will gather at the church's columbarium where the cremains will be interred. A reception will be held immediately following the service.
