--Linda and her twin sister Brenda were among 4 children of E.L. "Judge" and Katie Lane. The Lanes moved to Charlotte in 1975, where Linda graduated from West Charlotte High School. She then studied Early Childhood Education at Central Piedmont Community College.

--Linda was a fan of the Washington Redskins and the Carolina Panthers. Her favorite college team was Duke, which made a rivalry with her twin Brenda who was a Tarheel fan.
