Weaverville – Don Greene, 80, of 8 Ridgewood Ave., went to be with his Lord, Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at his residence following a period of declining health.
A native and resident most of life of Buncombe County, Mr. Greene retired in 1985 from BASF following 37 years of service. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
He was a son of the late Leburn Elan Greene and Annie Metcalf Greene. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Franklin, Gay Rice and Lucille Hughey; and brothers, Ellis Greene and Bon Greene.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Betty Stuart Greene of the home; sons, James R. Ronnie Greene and wife, Shirley, of Weaverville, and Charles David Greene of Candler; grandchildren, Andy Greene, Chris Greene and Marissa Ledbetter; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Dellis Greene of Marshall and Bruce E. Greene of Asheville.
The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the AndersRice Funeral Home, with the Revs. Steve Greene and Ebb Jenkins officiating.
Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
