Jimmy Murray, 79, of Jay, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.


He was born on October 3, 1942 in Pocahontas, Arkansas to the late, James and Mary (Hurst) Murray. Jimmy was a proudly served in the United States Army. He enjoyed shooting guns and playing his guitars. Jimmy attended the Corner Stone Church in Jay, Oklahoma.


Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronnie Joe Murray.


He is survived by his children, Robert Dean Murray of Grove, Oklahoma, Darla Henderson (Kenneth) of Pekin, Illinois, Jimmy Murray of Jay, Oklahoma, Deena Abbey (Scott) of Peoria, Illinois, Harold Murray (Nova) of Jay, Oklahoma; siblings, Virginia Martin, Lilly Reese, John Murray, Julie Axson and Ruth Murray; grandchildren, Dustin, Sarah, Susan, Matthew, Beth, Eddie, Peggy, Emily, David, Taylor, Danielle, Cody, Brandon, Jessica, Aaron, Alex and Adrianna; several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss Jimmy.


Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 15, 2021 at the Corner Stone Church in Southwest City, Missouri. Pastor James Stick, Reverend Ben Lukens and sister Helen Ford will officiate. Burial will follow the service in the Saratoga Springs Cemetery in Southwest City, Missouri. Those Honoring Jimmy's Life by serving as pallbearers are John Murray, J.B. Murray, Alex Watkins, Aaron Evans, Jimmy Murray and Michael Martin. Memorial contributions may be given to the Saratoga Springs Cemetery Association in Southwest City, Missouri, in care of the funeral home.
