Daniel E. Evans, 62, of Metamora, IL., formerly of Chillicothe, IL., passed away peacefully at 4am Thursday, November 11, 2021 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born November 5, 1959 in Peoria, IL to Donald and Dorothy Schmitt Evans.
Daniel married Barbara Jordan in Peoria on October 10, 1981. She survives.
Also surviving are his parents; two daughters, Katie (Austin) Ortiz, Karen (Ben) Dixon; three grandchildren, Cooper and Evan Ortiz, and Riley Dixon; one sister, Deanne (Chris) Switzer; and several nieces and nephews.
Daniel was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Dan had a 37 year career at Caterpillar Inc. beginning in the apprenticeship program and retiring as the manager of the Technical Information Center. He loved spending time at his parents' farm, workshopping new inventions with Barb, supporting his daughters' countless DIY projects, and playing with his grandchildren. Most importantly he wanted to be the best father, husband, grandfather, son, and brother he could and a friend to all.

A ceremony to celebrate Dan's life will be held at 1pm Sunday, November 21, 2021 at the Shore Acres Clubhouse in Chillicothe. A gathering in his honor will follow until 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greater Peoria Honor Flight, or Illinois Cancer Care.
Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
