Husband of Isola Marie (Foret) Ortego (7 Nov 1886-15 Jul 1966), married 19 January 1904 in St Landry, Louisiana. Isola was a daughter of Alcee/Alces Foret and Emeline/Amaline (Tate) Foret. Her siblings included Alice Foret, Elia Foret, who married Piere Tate, Jules Foret, Pierre L Foret, Marcileus Foret, Amelie Foret, who married Alcide Deville, per the 1900 census of St Landry Parish.

According to Regile Ortego's obituary published Thursday, May 5, 1938 in the Clarion-News, Opelousas, Louisiana, he died Tuesday, May 3, 1938. His funeral service was on Wednesday, May 4, 1938 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. His death record shows date of death as April 26, 1938.

He was a justice of the peace for many years and was prominently connected with the Woodmen of the World organization. He was employed at the Ardoin Sanitarium in Ville Platte.

Survivors: His widow, Isola Ortego; children, Madeline Ortego, nursing in Houston, Texas, Raphael, Moise, Paul, Van and Virginia Ortego, all of Ville Platte, Mrs. Malta Manuel of Eunice, Malcolm Ortego of the US Navy, Wilda Ortego, in training at New Orleans and Yolanda Ortego of Lafayette; brother, Adam Ortego of Ville Platte; sisters, Mrs. Gilbert Fontenot, Mrs, E. L. Thompson, Mrs. H. B. Gremillion, Mrs. Isaac Guillory, Mrs. Curtis Fontenot and Mrs. Their [as spelled in obit] Hebert.
