Richard "Rit" Schultz, 90, of Westfield died peacefully Wednesday evening November 10, in the company of his favorite home care provider. Rit was born in Westfield, on November 13, 1931, the youngest of 12 children. Rit had a very full life joining the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper at a young age and then working for Northeast Electric for over 35 years, retiring in 1992. He married Ann Zarolinski in 1956 and had two children, Susan and Richard. Rit was an avid golfer and downhill skier. He enjoyed his monthly trips to the casino with his friends and his morning coffees at Mrs. Murphy's Donut Shop as well as visiting with his great neighbors in his garage. His sense of humor was one of a kind; having a snappy response or sarcastic comment up until his last days. Rit leaves behind his grandchildren, Brian Schultz and his fiancée Heidi Plant of Richmond, MA, Jacquelyn Schultz of Rutland, MA and Ashley Emiliano of Richmond, MA along with Terry Bennett, his sons life companion. He also leaves behind 7 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Ann Schultz, son Richard Schultz and daughter Susan Schultz. Many thanks to the wonderful home care providers and Baystate hospice nurses that made it possible for him to stay in his home, treating him as one of their own family members. There will be a private celebrations of his life and burial with family.
