Walter Wayne Vest, 65, of Fairdale, W.Va., passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021, at the Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, W.Va.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1956, in Beckley, a son of E. Wayne Vest and Jeanette Crouch Vest.
Walt, as he was known by family and friends, was a disabled coal miner, and a proud member of the UMWA. He attended Bolt Church of God and Coal Marsh Missionary Baptist Church.
Walt enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Carolyn Vest Lester.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 31 years, Mary Ellen Daniel Vest; a son, Steven L. Vest of Tennessee; two grandsons, Braxton Vest of Coal City, and Gage Vest of Tennessee; a granddaughter, Kensie Revis of Tennessee; his brother, Jerry Vest and wife Libby of White Oak Mountain; a special niece Samantha Pack of Piney View, W.Va.; two nephews, Jamie and Jeremy Lester; a great-nephew Warren Pack; a very special friend, Dr. Julian Chipley, and many other friends too numerous to mention.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, at noon with Pastor Ricky Peters and Pastor Randy Smithson officiating. Burial will follow at the E.B. Vest Family Cemetery on White Oak Mountain. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m.until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Friends and family members will serve as pallbearers.
