LTC (Army Retired) Terry Eugene Powell, 96, of New Bern, NC passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

Terry was born on August 6, 1925 in Selby, South Dakota to the late Glen Powell and Kathryn Wall. Terry was well loved by all who knew him, the youngest of 8 children growing up in the dust bowl, he never was at a loss for telling a great story.

Enlisting in the Navy when he was just 17, he was a veteran of three wars and was ultimately proud to be an American. In 1950 he graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Sciences in Geography. He then followed his earlier calling and began a long career in the US Army. After his retirement he completed his Masters in Business Administration at University of Hawaii and spent more than a decade teaching accounting at Chaminade University of Honolulu. He was always first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and his outgoing and helpful nature endeared him to everyone he met.

He is survived by children; Cathy Faehl and her husband, James of Ladys Island, South Carolina, Terri Randell of New Bern, NC, and Marci Anderson and her husband, Brian of Sneads Ferry, NC, grandchildren; Colin Randell of New Bern, NC, Kathryn Faehl of Austin, TX, Ashleigh Randell of Cape Coral, FL, Andrew Faehl of Richmond, VA and Michael Vineyard of Bali, Indonesia.

He is predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Bette Jayne Bishop, and siblings; Josie, Robert, Calvin, Jack, Marjorie, Margaret and Joe and one grandchild, Brian Christopher Randell.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the 25th Infantry Division Association Scholarship fund at Post Office Box 7, Flourtown, PA, 19301-0007.
