Sarah Gwendolyn Lloyd
FEBRUARY 20, 1933 – NOVEMBER 2, 2021
Sarah Gwendolyn Lloyd, known to everyone who knew her simply as Gwen, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021. She was born on February 20th, 1933, in Andalusia, Alabama. She was the firstborn child of Ernest R. Straughn and Myrtle Ester Straughn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Arthur O. Lloyd Jr as well as her parents and three of her four siblings, Mrs. Bobbie Vincent and her brothers Mark and Cecil Straughn. She is survived by her two sons, Robert E. Lloyd and wife Judy, Darryl O. Lloyd and wife Pam, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by her youngest sister, Carolyn Powell as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Everyone who knew her knew of her love for Jesus. Everywhere she went she always had a tract and a devotional book in her purse and would tell every cashier, server or anyone else who would listen, how important it was to be "right with Jesus". Her Bible is so marked up with highlights, underlined verses and notes she has made that you have difficulty reading the verses! She supported my dad, Sonny Lloyd, as he served a number of churches in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties as bi-vocational music director throughout their life together. In each church they attended my mother would teach ladies Sunday School classes. She was a voracious reader and student of the Bible. She and dad lived a simple life together, never having an abundance of material things but always having enough and always being willing to share with others what they had. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her in the days to come. Until we meet again…
A visitation for Sarah will be held Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, 1985 West Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL 32534, followed by a funeral service with committal service to follow for Sarah Gwendolyn Lloyd from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
