Richard Lopez was Born in Rocky Ford Colorado, On September 6, 1957 and went home to be the lord October 27, 2021, after losing his battle to Pancreatic Cancer. Richard was the only son out of 9 children. Raised by his parents Richard Sr and Mary Lopez, he graduated from Rocky Ford High School as a Meloneer.
Following high school Richard served in the military as a Marine for 4 years. Stationed in Okinawa Japan, Richard served as a mechanic until December 11, 1981. After the service, he came home to be with his family where he worked at "Neoplan USA CORP." in Lamar, Colorado. Where he soon after, met his wife Yvonne Ortega and married her on December 1, 1984. In 1985 they moved to Denver, Colorado, and Richard started school at Colorado Aerotek. He received his license as an aircraft mechanic doing what he always dreamed of doing, working on airplanes. He worked for continental airlines until the company moved out of Denver in 1994. Richard would then join RTD as a Diesel Mechanic where he worked 25 years and would retire in the year 2019. Through this time, he had 3 children Leanna Lopez (1985, only Daughter), Adam Lopez (1990), and Andrew Lopez (1991). Richard loved classic vehicles and he loved wrenching on them even more… In the garage blasting some Led Zeppelin while wrenching away on a vehicle, with oil grease everywhere was what you would expect when you came to visit Richard. He also loved the outdoors, he loved having grill offs, loved listening to music, and he loved learning new things; however, being that he was always about his family, nothing compared to spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Everybody who knew him, knew he was a hardworking and Extraordinary man. His strict nature created a high standard for himself as a man, which he effortlessly succeeded in being a Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend. Our Father will be forever missed more than anybody knows. Your memory is our keepsake we will forever hold. We will forever share your legacy, the love and memory of you shall never pass away, May you Rest In Peace Dad, until we meet Again in Eternity. Love Always And forever your Beloved Family
