This FindaGrave Memorial (FAG) has been created (November 2021) to document Magdalena Martin Kauffman as the wife of Andrew Kauffman (son of Andreas/Andrew Kauffman, immigrant to America). Magdalena was one of the daughters of Christian M. Martin and Magdalena Schneider Martin. She was also the mother of Magdalena Kauffman who married John Shank. Magdalena Kauffman Shank's father was Andrew Kauffman, not his brother John. The memorial is based on the historical records cited below.
Surname: In source records including FAG memorials, there are often two spellings of the surname -Kauffman; One with two "fs" and another version, Kaufman, with one "f". "Coffman" is also used.
First name: Most of the "primary" sources cited below simply list Andrew's wife as Magdalena, not "Magdalena Barbara."
The year of birth for Magdalena Martin was taken from the text in the FAG for Magdalena's father, Christian. Date of death is unknown, although Mennonite records indicate it was beyond 1763 when her husband Andrew died, and she was listed as the widow.
Records from the Kauffman and Martin families clearly indicate that Christian Martin and his wife Magdalene Schneider Martin had two daughters, Magdalena and Barbara, who married two Kauffman brothers – Andrew and John respectively. This has led to some confusion was well as the fact the names "Andrew" and "Magdalena" span three generations.

The text of this FAG (40630788) indicates she was the wife of John Kauffman. However, the text in the FAG for John Kauffman (#95524176) states his second wife was Barbara Martin.
Most likely the FAG memorial for Magdalena Barbara "Molly" Martin Kauffman should simply be Barbara Martin Kauffman (not Magdalena Barbara) to avoid confusion and to be consistent with the sources cited here.
