Long Illness
Fatal to Pioneer

Calvin C. Swaner,(sic) pioneer resident of Sayre, died at 1 a. m., Wednesday morning at his home following a week's critical illness.

Mr. Swanner was born in Stephen(sic) county, Tex., March 14, 1869 and on November 20, 1889 was married to Emma Lee Holley. To this union eleven children were born eight of whom survive.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday morning at 10 a. m., at the Assembly of God church with Rev. T. H. Lancaster officiating. Interment was in the Spring Creek cemetery by the Littrell-Scroggins funeral home.

Survivors of Mr. Swanner include his daughters, Mrs. W. A. Hand, Mrs. G. A. Paddack, Mrs. G. M. Lowry, Mrs. Henry Doster, Mrs. Prentice Davis, Mrs. Luna Brewer and two sons, Oscar C. and Walter, all of Sayre. Two children died in infancy and another son, Capt. L. A. Swaner(sic) was killed in the southwest(sic) Pacific June 16, 1943. Twenty three grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren also survive.
