February 15, 1938 ~ November 11, 2021 (age 83)

Billy Neal Perry, Sr.,83, of Wendell, passed away peacefully at his home early Thursday morning, November 11, 2021. He was born on February 15, 1938, in Johnston County to the late Exum & Eula Perry.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Mildred Blackley Perry, his eldest son, Billy Neal Perry, Jr.; and two brothers H. Duke Perry and Kenneth Lee Perry.

Billy Neal was raised in a large farming family filled with much love, laughter, and hard work. He was proud of his upbringing and remained close with his siblings throughout his life. Billy Neal and his siblings enjoyed many happy times together at home, at the beach, and through many Perry family reunions over the years. Following his parents' example, he learned the value of hard work at an early age. He began his career in public work at ITT, but later returned to his love of the land by raising tobacco, wheat, soybeans, and garden vegetables. He was recognized for his efforts in soil conservation. In mid-life, he became a skilled craftsman and built custom cabinetry which was often displayed in the annual Parade of Homes. In recent years, he developed and managed Perry's Sod Farm with his son, Lee.

Billy Neal was a hard working man with a generous heart. He worked diligently to provide and care for his family and taught his sons and grandchildren to do the same. He led by example in both his work ethic and in his willingness to lend a hand to those in need.

The family would like to thank Mrs. Carolyn Saunders who remained a steadfast and compassionate caregiver after Mildred's passing. Her faithful prayers and spiritual guidance gave Billy Neal much comfort and assurance of his salvation through their many conversations and prayers together.

Billy Neal is survived by his youngest son, Lee Perry and his wife, Paula; grandchildren-Ashton Perry Taylor and her husband Robbie, Charlie and Kaylee Perry; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Perry; sisters, Margie Kennedy, Hilda Lloyd (C.A.), Mary Frances Ham, Jean Bennett (Darrell), twin sister Bobbie Nell Broadwell, brother Dennis Perry (Carolyn), as well as a large extended family.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday November 13, 2021 from 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center 405 South Main Street Wake Forest, NC 27587.
