Mr. Tommie (Po-T) Simmons , Jr was born September 3, 1944 to the great union of Tommie Sr, and Artensie Montgomery Simmons. He was the eldest of seven siblings. Tommie was called home on November 5, 2021 surrounded by his family.

Tommie was a graduate of the 1963 class of Magnolia High School. He also attended Arizona State University on a football scholarship. Shortly after his football career Tommie joined the U.S. Army, serving his country as a proud American. He worked for Morton International, Inc. for many years before retiring. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church of Moss Point. Hewas a man of great talents. Among those talents Tommie considered himself a self made architect, designing and building what is known today as a landmark for many people The House of Jazz. He also enjoyed painting, drawing, traveling, dejaying and being around family and friends.

Tommie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, PFC Bennie L. Simmons, Garry L. Simmons and Ervin O. Simmons. Sisters; Mary A. Simmons and Glenda Kennard. Grandparents; Robert Simmons, Sr. and Mary B. Simmons.

He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife: Patricia B. Simmons; a loving daughter, Mineuittie (Eric Darven) Farley of New York, NY; two devoted sons;; Tommie Simmons and Roman Simmons both of Moss Point, MS; four grandchildren; Asha Farley of New York, Niko Simmons of Arlington, SD, Julian Simmons and Jeremiah Simmons both of Ocean Springs, MS; two sisters; Marvella Jones of Moss Point, MS and Juanita Richardson of New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
