Frances spent almost 50 of her 83 years as a proud worker in the Newport News Shipyard. Every conversation she had was peppered with a story from her days working there. She spent so much time with the company, and left such an indelible mark there that they even named a building after her. She continued to maintain those relationships made with the people she worked with for the rest of her life, often calling her coworkers just to catch up with them about their lives, and tell them all about hers.
The thing that Frances loved more than anything in the world, however, was her husband Johnnie. They shared almost 60 years of marriage together, through many of life's ups and downs. Together, they were sure to make anyone laugh, cracking jokes and making faces behind each other's backs. It is easy to imagine them together again, laughing at all of the things that are taking place in their absence.
Frances was the pillar of her family, the center of almost any gathering. She loved meeting new people and trying to learn their stories. In her absence, her life will become the centerpiece of the stories that the people who knew her will tell from now on. In that manner, she will never be forgotten.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM - 12 Noon on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home followed by a service at noon. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
