Joseph McLaughlin, 69, of Red Hook, NY, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 after a short illness at the Vassar Brothers Medical Center, in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Born on June 17, 1952, in the Bronx, he was the son of the late William McLaughlin and Rose Evelyn Pelella. Joe served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He later married the love of his life, Irene Buszczak on July 6, 1974, in New York City.
Joe attended the Culinary Institute of America, in Hyde Park, NY and continued his culinary career as a chef for a number of years. In addition to his culinary ventures, he worked at Holy Cross Campus working with troubled youth, a job he cherished long after his tenure ended. Throughout his life, he had many roles; loving husband, father and friend. Joe was known to many as a jack of all trades.
In addition to his loving wife of 48 years, Irene (Red Hook, NY); Joe is survived by his children, Lisa Rutland and her husband, Kevin (Savannah, GA), Joe McLaughlin (Kingston, NY), Lauren McLaughlin (Red Hook, NY); his brother, William McLaughlin (Tivoli, NY); his brother in law, Roman Buszczak and his partner, Nancy Leshner Bloom (Farmingdale, NJ); along with his Granddogs, Champ and Max; in addition to extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Linda McLaughlin.
