BYU Coed Killed In Crash on Utah Highway

LEEDS, Utah - A Brigham Young University coed was killed Sunday November 26, 1967 at 4:35 p.p. on Interstate 15 about five miles south of here when the car in which she was riding crashed out of control.

Killed was Dee Ann Dickens, 19, El Segundo, California, who was apparently returning to school following the Thanksgiving holiday.

Investigating officer, Trooper Donald Best, Utah Highway Patrol, said the victim was northbound in a vehicle driven by Robert Alton Anderson, 17, also of El Segundo. Anderson lost control of the car and it sliced off the left side of the freeway, came back onto the road and traveled off the right side and down an embankment where it rolled.

Miss Dickens was thrown from the vehicle and apparently killed instantly. Anderson suffered only minor injuries.

Dee Ann was a 1965 graduate of Burbank High School, Burbank California, and this is her senior photo from the yearbook. I remember Dee Ann being a very sweet and fun classmate. It is so very tragic and sad to loose her at such a young age...

RIP Dee Ann.
