Janet Rae Simmons passed away on December 17, 2019 at the age of 73 due to long term health conditions.
Janet was born November 14, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Sharon Holgate and Lorna Jenkins Holgate-Oviatt. She was the second oldest of 5 kids and remained best friends with her sisters throughout her life. Janet served a Stake mission while her husband-to-be served in the Alaskan Canadian mission. She met her forever husband and sweetheart, Clair W. Simmons, and were married on February 23, 1968 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and a servant of the Lord her whole life. She had many callings in the church throughout her life and always loved to help others. Janet absolutely loved being a home maker, and creating a home that was a welcoming place for all. She was devoted to her husband and her sons, who she loved so much. Anyone would tell you how much of a sweet spirit she had, and that she could light up any room with her laugh and smile.
Janet is survived by her husband Clair; her sons, Jeremy (Stacy) Simmons and Seth (Lisa) Simmons; siblings, Gloria (Dennis) Manning, Ranae (Scott) Thornton, Marilyn (Ron) Goodrich, and Ralph Holgate; many nieces and nephews, and 9 grandchildren. We love you Janet and will miss you dearly.
Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m. December 19, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4235 West 3rd Street, Bloomington, Indiana 47404 with visitation an hour and a half prior to the service starting at 4:30 p.m.
