Betty graduated from Granby High School and attended the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary. She retired from Tidewater Construction Company where she served as a secretary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Abbitt Owen. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mary Pat O. Croft and her husband, Bob of Hampton, Ellen O. Carlson and her husband, Randy of Virginia Beach, her son, Billy Abbitt Owen, Jr. and his wife, Teresa of Norfolk, a grandson, Billy Rowe, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty enjoyed playing bridge, Mahjong, painting and reading. She also served on the Alter Guild at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13th at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany with the Reverend Richard Bridgford officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 1530 Lafayette Blvd., Norfolk 23509. H. D.
