Sue lived most of her life in Senoia, Georgia, and she often shared the story of meeting her soulmate at South Georgia Technical College and searching for his hometown of Senoia on a map because she had never heard of it. Little did she know she would live there and watch the single caution light town grow to become famous well beyond the city limits.
Sue was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Senoia where she taught Sunday School, facilitated the Ladies Bible Study, orchestrated the Women's Ministry, and served as the Director of the WMU. Sue also served as an Awana leader, assisted with Vacation Bible School, and served alongside Rev. Mitchell in many capacities.
Sue loved to travel and often shared stories of when she and Rev. Mitchell traveled to the Holy Land, England, Alaska, and Mexico, as well as a trip with special friends to see Elvis in Graceland. In recent years, she enjoyed traveling with "her tribe" on a Carribbean cruise and visiting both New York City and Washington DC at Christmas time.
The Celebration of Life service was held on Friday, December 10, 2021, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at First Baptist Church of Senoia with Rev. BJ Cobb officiating. Burial followed at Senoia City Cemetery. Visitation for family and close friends was held prior to the service, beginning at 2:30 p.m. While Sue loved flowers, which are welcome, she also had a heart for missions. Memorial contributions can be made to Lottie Moon, Samaritan's Purse for Operation Christmas Child, or First Baptist Church of Senoia. Condolences can be expressed online at www.mckoon.com
