Gerald 'Fritz' Wilson, age 85, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021 at his home.

A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 13th at Westside Covenant Church, Aurora, Nebraska. Rev. Karl Larson will officiate. Private family inurnment will be at the Aurora Cemetery. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Gerald H. 'Fritz' Wilson, the son of George and Lois (Mock) Wilson was born at Aurora, Nebraska on November 14, 1935 and passed away on November 8, 2021 at the age of 85.

Fritz was a lifelong resident of Aurora. He was born in his parents' home and graduated from Aurora High School in 1953. Fritz was an active member of the sporting events he participated including, football, basketball, track and baseball. Fritz served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea from 1961 to 1963, when he was honorably discharged.

On August 22, 1964 Fritz married Sally A. Gebhardt at Scotia, Nebraska and their union lasted over 57 years. They had three children: Wayne, Ann and Brenda. Fritz worked at the following businesses during his career: Condon Well Drilling, Convair Astronautics, U.S. Post office, serving as Assistant Postmaster and Century Manufacturing. In 1984, he started Wilson Sports with his wife. He worked there until 2002 when he retired.

Fritz was an active member of the Westside Covenant Church, where he served in many capacities. When his children were growing up Fritz was active in scouting, as a committee member and as a Scout Leader for over 22 years. He also helped coach Legion baseball and softball teams and was a timer for Aurora Cross Country meets for a number of years until his health declined. Fritz found time to mow the Richland Cemetery, obtain his Real Estate license and go fishing. He served the town of Aurora over the years by being a member of the Park Board, City Council member, Lions Club and active member of the Aurora Retail Trades and Chamber of Commerce. Fritz's greatest joys in life were to spend time with his family. One of the things he will always be remembered for was his kind and generous spirit and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those that needed it.

Fritz was proceeded in death by his parents and 11 siblings, Faye, Elva, George, Dorothy, Luella, Iola, Robert, Shirley, Ronald, Sharon and Connie.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sally of Aurora; three children, Wayne (Katy) Wilson of Elkhorn, Ann Heinen of Central City and Brenda (Scott) Moss of Park City, Utah; 9 grandchildren, Derek (Sam), Ellen (Matt), Shelby (Trevor), Keegan, Jadyn, Cade, Nick, Kat and Xander and 3 great-grandchildren, Dustin, Willa and Hadley. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Jim (Dianna) Wilson of Lincoln and John Wilson of Central City; 2 sisters, Charlotte Monson of Grand Island and Linda Modrell of McCook and many other relatives and friends.
