Sadly, at only 55 years of age, Barbara lost her long battle with cancer.
Barbara spent most of her younger life in Dearborn, Michigan where she attended Edsel Ford High School. She was raised a devout Catholic. In her senior year, the family had sold their home and moved to Vero Beach, Florida where she graduated in 1976. Shortly after, they returned to Michigan where she started her career. At work her friend Doris introduced her to the love of her life, Joseph K. Poland who worked with Doris's husband Jerry. On April 26, 1980 Barbara and Joseph married and spent 33 wonderful years together until her unfortunate passing. On September 17, 1981 they brought into this world their only child, Daniel Lee Poland.
Barbara worked at Pontiac General Hospital as a Health Coordinator for the Emergency Room which she loved passionately while her husband Joseph retired from Ford Motor Company. She loved puzzles, solving crosswords and sudoku. She was a sharp euchre player and I remember her giggle and laughter when she skunked her opponents. It was an enjoyment to play cards with her family as they were very competitive and skilled players.
Barbara and Joseph loved their travels and especially their trips to Hawaii and had a wonderful life together. They retained a long 30 year membership to "The Henry Ford" which included both the Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum.
Preceding her in death, were her parents Charles Raymond Tessier and Florence Virginia Riley - Tessier, her brother Joseph William Tessier, sister Carol Jean Tessier and sister in law Carol Joyce Stouder - Tessier. She leaves behind her beloved husband Joseph K. Poland and her son Daniel Lee Poland, brothers Charles Wayne Tessier and Carl Edward Tessier. Barbara will be dearly missed.
