Lonnie L. Locke, Jr.

Lonnie L. Locke, Jr., a resident of Kountze, Texas and formerly of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont, Texas. He was 89 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Temples officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Locke was born April 16, 1928 in Demopolis, Alabama and spent the early part of his life in Columbus, Mississippi. He spent 2 years in the U.S. Army stationed in Alaska following his graduation from high school. After his military service, he attended Livingston University and Auburn University. He moved to Dothan in 1964 where he was employed as a salesman with Hathcock Lumber for several years. Mr. Locke was a member of Westwood Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He loved to go fishing and was an avid stamp and coin collector.

Mr. Locke was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Clara Locke, his wife, Sarah Locke, and a granddaughter, Madelyn Noelle Locke.

Survivors include his daughters, Clara (Mike) Scarborough and Amelia (Charles) Ritch; his son, Lonnie (Donna) Locke, III; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a very special canine companion Honey Bun also survives.
