Floyd Leroy Mitchell, 76, of Cherokee Village passed away November 4th, 2021 at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas. Floyd was born in St. Joseph, Missouri to Floyd Homer Mitchell and Anna May Conner Mitchell on April 8, 1945. Floyd was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving three years. He served honorably in the Army, achieving the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Engineer Command.

He worked many years in the electric generation industry. He attended the University of Missouri at Rolla where he earned a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Engineering Administration.

He was a connoisseur of great BBQ and bluegrass music. He always dreamed of returning to the Ozarks where he was raised.

Floyd is preceded in death by his father, Floyd Homer Mitchell, and his mother, Anna May Mitchell. He is remembered with love by his daughter, Christine Weathington (Mitchell); and son, Floyd M. Mitchell and his wife, Monique. He is beloved grandfather to, Michaelclay Mitchell, Christopher Mitchell, Reagan Weathington and Jacob Weathington. He is also survived by his younger siblings Anajean Mitchell, Joe Mitchell, Jonelle Ducote and Avanelle Mitchell and multiple cousins; and by his former spouse, Tonga Mitchell.

He will be laid to rest at the Springfield National Cemetery at noon on Wednesday, November 10th.
