He worked for D & S Casing in Gillette for about 4 years. Around 1985, Jim resided in Boulder, CO where he worked construction. He eventually made his dream trip to Israel where he resided for about 2 years. While on his adventure, he volunteered and served in the Israel Army. In 1987, he returned to Big Horn, WY, where he did construction in Sheridan and surrounding areas. Jim moved to Big Horn, WY to help support his mother financially and help care for his little brother. In 1989, Jim moved to Prineville, OR. He worked in construction and in the lumber industry at Pine Products Lumber Mill as well as painted houses. In 1992 he returned to Martin, SD with his family and started a small farm. He loved animals and spent time teaching this same love for animals to his children.

Jim also worked at Lacreek District as a maintenance man and painted houses. He helped out where ever he was needed. Jim was always there for anybody that needed help. His passion for the Elderly residents was his joy. He would do odd jobs and spend time visiting them. Jim had the heart towards helping the elderly residents with jobs they couldn't do on their own any more. Plus, he loved to visit. Jim later returned to Prineville in 1992 and worked as a mechanic and did odd jobs painting, snow removal, and lawn work. This is where he met Johnette and later moved back to Casper, WY.

Jim's move in 2008 was to be closer to his 3 girls, which were residing in Buffalo, WY. He continued to help the elderly residents doing odd jobs painting, snow removal, lawn work in Casper. Jim was always a lot of fun to be around he loved to preach the Word of God wherever he went. His other interests were fishing, outside life, hunting, camping, and casinos. Jim always had a lot of love to share with others. He was always able to accept anybody and everybody from every walk of life. Jim was able to place himself in places to preach the Word of God that a lot of people wouldn't even think about going to. These places included the streets, bad neighborhoods, shelters, and homeless shelters. He even slept on the beaches and always had a lot of stories to tell in Israel.

Jim was very bold in his walk with the Lord. He had a complicated life, but was cheerful in just about every situation that came his way. He always knew the Lord was in control. Jim married Rachel Herman on Jan 31, 1989 in Eugene, OR.
