George Al Goodman

George Alton Goodman, age 85, of Big Canoe died Monday, December 9, 2019 after a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Goodman of Big Canoe; daughters, Stacy (Jim) Scott, Terri (Ron) Johnson; step-son, Todd (Laura) Earley. Grandchildren include Zack, Natalie, Lily, Ian, Seth, and Jackson. Also surviving is his brother, Steve Goodman.

Al was born in McDonough, Georgia in 1934, one of ten children. During his career he lived in Atlanta, Augusta, Charlotte and Nashville. He enjoyed golf, college football, traveling, walking the trails of Big Canoe and being with his friends.

Al retired to Big Canoe in 1996 after being in management for Yellow Freight System.

A Memorial Service is planned for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Big Canoe Chapel with a reception to follow.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Al to the Big Canoe Chapel Music Program.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
