David C. (Pappy) Gardner, 65, passed away with his family by his side Sunday night after laying down his working tools of life.

He was a dedicated member of Free Chapel PFWB Church, where he served as a Deacon and on numerous committees. David retired as an Applied Science Technology Instructor at Wayne Community College, and enjoyed spending time at the beach and fishing.

A Funeral service will be held at Free Chapel PFWB Church, 3302 NC Hwy 111 North, Wednesday, November 10 at 6:00 PM with Pastor Dane Williford and Pastor Ronnie Weaver officiating. Masonic Committal Rites will be held Thursday, November 11 at 11 am at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after the service on Wednesday in the church sanctuary.

Here ye, Here ye, All Master Mason are to assemble Thursday at 10:45 AM at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 3888 Hwy 70 West for the purpose of Masonic Burial Rite for Past Master and Past Secretary David Cooper Gardner of Harmony Lodge #340.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Bobbie) Gardner; daughters, Jessica Gardner, Jamie Gardner Sears (John), all of Goldsboro, and Joy Wood (Dustin) of Hookerton; mother, Lou Smith Kearney of Goldsboro; brother, Don Gardner (Sheila) of Goldsboro; sister, Peggy Gardner Daniels; nieces, Brianna Daniels and Dana-Lou Daniels of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Michael of US Space Force, Olivia, Asher, Cooper, Carson, Carter and Anna-Gordon; and special family friends, Buck and Sharon Howell.
