Julia Mae Hardin, best known as Judy, has transitioned to her heavenly home. From the comfort of her residence in Savannah, Texas, Judy accepted the outreached hand of God and began her eternal life on November 5, 2021. She was born January 31, 1945, in Seymour, Texas, to George and Ella Grace Higgins who greeted her as their first born and a cherished blessing.
Judy graduated from Seymour High School in 1963. Following graduation, she attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, where she obtained a BBA. Completing her education was a dream for Judy, yet her biggest fulfillment came from becoming a mom. Through her former marriage to Mack Hardin, Judy's joy came from having her sons, Greg and Jason. With the birth of her boys, Judy's nurturing role was at its finest. She always found ultimate happiness through interactions with her children and eventually with their families.
As time passed and the boys grew, Judy utilized her education in various roles. Judy worked for several companies and held many positions throughout the years. While working with Edward Jones Investments, she served as the On-Call Branch Office Administrator. At D R Horton Homes, she was the Sales/Marketing Assistant. Judy also worked at both Texas Woman's University and McLennan Community College holding positions in Student Records and Administration. From 1988 to 1996, she served as the Administrative Assistant/Medical Records Manager at Regis/St. Elizabeth Centers in Waco, Texas. Additionally, Judy completed educational requirements for the Texas Board of Licensure for Nursing Home Administrators' curriculum and internship.
As noted, Judy was at her pinnacle when she became a mom. And as expected, she was equally thrilled about welcoming her grandchildren, Kayla and Georgia. Just recently, Judy was elated to welcome her great-granddaughter, Hudsyn.
Everyone who knew Judy was blessed by her kindness, and they were aware of her graciousness and compassion. She was soft-spoken, and she had a keen interest in those she loved--and they were many. It was not uncommon for Judy to express empathy for those she didn't know personally, only through a connection to someone she cared about. Her heart was huge with a broad outreach.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather Bob Cousins. She leaves behind two sons Greg Hardin (Brooke) and Jason Hardin (Reagan), two granddaughters, a great-granddaughter, and a beloved sister, Georgann Higgins. In addition, she leaves many friends who cared about her deeply and will miss her steadfast kindness. It is almost unthinkable to imagine life without Judy. Her leaving creates a huge gap that cannot be filled and one that is even more difficult to accept. Judy was a gift--one that was very special. For now, the world has dimmed with her departure, but memories of her will sustain those who mourn her passing as they await the time when they are with her again. Her light will shine brightly through the sustained memories of her generosity and goodness. She will continue to reside within those who knew her. She made an enormous difference in the hearts she touched.
The service will be at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at the chapel of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home located at 200 South Cedar Street in Seymour, Texas, with Derrell Patterson officiating. A graveside committal service will follow at the Seymour Masonic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Seymour or the Baylor County Museum.
