Betty Jane Rose, 100, of Cambridge, went to be with her Savior Friday (November 5, 2021) at Southeastern Med, Cambridge.

She was born January 10, 1921 in Akron, daughter of the late Clarence Clapper and Hazel V. (Williams) Clapper.

A 1938 graduate of Norton High School, Mrs. Rose retired as a registered nurse. She had worked at the Akron City Hospital, the former Guernsey Memorial Hospital, and the former Cambridge State Hospital.

She was a member of the Mt. Hermon United Presbyterian Church for seventy years.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a former member of the Cambridge VFW Post 2901.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Verle E. Rose, who died January 2, 1986. They were married August 28, 1942. Also deceased are seven brothers; a twin sister; a daughter, Judy Rose; two grandsons; and a great-grandson.

She is survived by two sons, John Rose of Norwalk and James Rose of Cottonwood AZ; two daughters, Joan (& Carl) Scott of Eustis FL and Jane (& Randy) Douglas of Cambridge; a brother, Don Robert (& Shirley) Clapper of Northport FL; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday (November 12, 2021) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Additional visitation hours will be held Saturday (November 13, 2021) from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Mt. Hermon Presbyterian Church (5775 Lemon Hill Road, Cambridge), where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.

Burial will be at Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
